The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.04 percent, or 13.36 points, to 34,479.60, while the S&P 500 index added 0.19 percent, or 8.26 points, to 4,247.44. The NASDAQ Composite index closed 0.35 percent, or 49.09 points, higher at 14,069.42.
