SUMMARY

The economic slowdown which has resulted in low consumer sentiment continues to dent sales of major Indian automobile companies in January 2020. The largest passenger car maker Maruti Suzuki has reported a marginal 1.6 percent rise in total sales. Tata Motors' overall sales, including exports in January, declined to 47,862 vehicles against 58,185 units sold in the same month of 2019. Hyundai Motor India's overall sales declined by 3.37 percent to 52,002 vehicles while Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) reported a 6 percent fall.
