Lessons in personal finance and managing money can show up in the most unusual places. In a recent episode of Koffee with Karan, actor Kajol and Ajay Devgn revealed the former's 'thrifty' spending behaviour.
Devgn called his wife 'low-maintenance' and said she doesn't really spend a lot of money. Kajol, although gives a unique perspective in how one should manage their money no matter how rich one is.
Here are three financial lessons that Kajol taught us:
Spend less. It doesn't matter if you can afford it comfortably, the path to financial independence is laid through the park of thrift. Devgn said Kajol never flaunts designer labels and rather picks up strange brands from Santacruz (Mumbai) market.
Choose comfort over expensive clothes. Kajol told Karan Johar she chooses to wear designer brands only for public appearances. Devgn revealed how Kajol has taken to online shopping in a major way and buy clothes between Rs 500 and Rs 1200 all the time. Kajol admitted that she wears expensive clothes only for public appearances and comfort is her top priority in life.
Invest, invest, invest. Investing money that is lying idle in your bank account is important part of your financial planning. Kajol said she would rather put the money she saves from not expensive clothes and accessories in fixed deposits. “I’d rather put my money in fixed deposits than spend on something expensive that has no bloody returns,” she said.First Published: Dec 16, 2018 4:36 PM IST
