Banking services across the country could be disrupted in December due to a nationwide strike, apart from the official holidays. All the banks, both public and private, will remain closed for as many as 18 days in December.
The bank holidays include five Sundays as well as the second and fourth Saturdays. However, the listed holidays in December could differ in states as per regional holidays due to local festivals. The banks will remain closed across the country on national holidays like Christmas.
Those intending to visit banks for urgent matters are advised to take note of the listed holidays below to avoid any last-minute inconvenience. One can access internet banking services and can conduct financial transactions online even when the banks are closed.
Apart from the listed bank holidays, the All-India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) has also called for a 6-day nationwide strike that will impact various banks on different dates.
Starting from December 4, all branches of banks like Punjab National Bank (PNB), Punjab and Sind Bank, and
State Bank of India (SBI) across the country will be closed.
On December 5, there will be a strike at the Bank of Baroda (BOB) and Bank of India (BoI), while on December 6, the strike will be at the Canara Bank and Central Bank of India.
Following the strike, on December 7, it will impact the Indian Bank and UCO Bank, and on December 8, the Union Bank of India and Bank of Maharashtra will be affected.
On December 11, the strike will encompass all the private banks.
