The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has once again extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates, providing a three-month grace period until June 14, 2024. This extension applies exclusively to online updates through the myAadhaar portal.
The initiative aims to encourage
Aadhaar holders to keep their documents updated and ensure the accuracy of their demographic details.
Previously, the deadline was set for March 14, 2024, and this latest extension provides additional time for residents to take advantage of the free service.
The extension is particularly relevant for individuals whose Aadhaar was issued a decade ago and has not been updated since.
For those needing to modify demographic details such as name, date of birth, address, etc., the online update service or a visit to the nearest Aadhaar center remains a viable option.
However, it is essential to note that physical
Aadhaar centers charge a fee of ₹50 for this service.
To utilise the free online update service, residents can follow these steps:
Log onto myAadhaar portal using their Aadhaar number.
A One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the registered mobile number.
Navigate to the 'Document Update' section, verify details, and upload the necessary documents to revalidate the information.First Published: Mar 13, 2024 9:03 AM IST
