Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, on Wednesday, informed that the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh has welcomed three
new cubs.Sharing a video of the new-borns on the social media site X (formerly Twitter), Yadav said that the cubs have been born to the
Namibian Cheetah Aasha. He termed it as a “roaring success for Project Cheetah” to restore ecological balance.
“Purrs in the wild! Thrilled to share that
Kuno National Park has welcomed three new members. The cubs have been born to Namibian Cheetah Aasha. This is a roaring success for Project Cheetah, envisioned by PM Shri @narendramodi ji to restore ecological balance. My big congrats to all experts involved in the project, the Kuno wildlife officials, and wildlife enthusiasts across India,” the Union Minister wrote.
The 20-second clip features the three cubs sitting next to each other.
In the comment section, social media users have congratulated the Union Minister for the "great news".
“What a start to the new year! Please take extra care of them and ensure that all of them reach adulthood. This is a fantastic achievement, congratulations to Kuno management and all the researchers behind this project,” one person wrote.
Another one added, “Thank you so much Sir for your good efforts. You are doing a great job of saving the climate and the ecosystem. Save nature save Earth."
A third person wrote, "Great news sir for our cheetah project."
According to reports, the management of the
Kuno National Park had recently reopened the Tiktoli gate to allow tourists to observe cheetahs up close. The gate was earlier closed due to the shifting of cheetahs.
A few weeks ago, Madhya Pradesh wildlife officials released two male cheetahs into the safari area of the national park.
The cheetahs, named Agni and Vayu, were released in the Ahera tourism zone, which is designated for tourists to witness them during safari visits.
