Two earthquakes of magnitude 4.6 and 6.2 on the Richter Scale jolted Nepal at an interval of 25 minutes, the National Centre for Seismology said. The first quake of magnitude 4.6 hit Nepal at a depth of 10 kilometres at 2:25 pm. The earthquake of 6.2 on the Richter Scale hit Nepal at 2.51 pm.
Delhi-NCR and north Indian states also witnessed strong earthquake tremors.
Videos of people rushing out of their homes and offices were shared on various social media platforms. Some videos were also shared from Uttarakhand.
A few buildings in Bajhang district suffered damage after 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal.
Meanwhile, Google India recently announced it was introducing an
Android Earthquake Alerts System in consultation with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Seismology Centre (NSC). Through the launch, Google said it aims to provide Android users with automatic early warning alerts for earthquakes in their area.
