Traffic restrictions have been imposed in Maharashtra's Pune city ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to inaugurate a national conference in Lonavala on Wednesday, November 29.
President Murmu is on a four-day visit to the state. She will inaugurate the national conference on ‘Integration of Yoga in School Education System-Manifesting the Thought’, on Wednesday. The national conference has been organised by Kaivalyadham as part of its centenary year celebrations.
Considering the VVIP movement, Lonavala Police issued a traffic advisory restricting movements on different routes. The traffic restrictions will remain effective from 2 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, Pune Mirror reported.
The traffic advisory suggests that commuters, especially those coming from Mumbai via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, not take an exit from the Khandala exit but rather use the Lonavala exit and head towards Pune.
As per the traffic advisory, vehicles coming from Pune will be diverted to Mumbai via Expressway and there will be no entry to vehicles in the area, Pune Pulse reported.
Moreover, the locals have been advised to avoid travelling during the scheduled time to avoid congestion.
Police have also prohibited drone, paragliding, air balloon or aerial activities during the VVIP movement.
After the event in Lonavala
, President Murmu will attend the Presidential Dinner at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla later on Wednesday.
On Thursday, she will review the Passing Out Parade of the 145th Course of the National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla and lay the foundation stone for the building of the upcoming 5th Battalion.
The President will present the President’s Colour to Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, on December 1.
Also, she will virtually inaugurate the Armed Forces Centre for Computational Medicine ‘Prajna’. President Murmu will inaugurate the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Government Medical College, Nagpur, on Friday.
On the last day of her visit on December 2, President Murmu will grace the 111th convocation of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University at Nagpur.
