Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched the ‘Nari Shakti Doot’ mobile application, which will give a boost to the Namo Mahila Shashaktikaran Abhiyaan in Maharashtra.
The initiative aims to empower women in Maharashtra by providing skill development training and exposure to entrepreneurship development. Further, it will help in the convergence of the women-centric development programmes of the Centre and state governments, according to a statement by the Prime Minister's Office.
The ‘Nari Shakti Doot’ app of the Maharashtra Women and Child Development Department will provide all types of information regarding various schemes floated by the state government for women. It will feature information related to various women-centric projects and the latest updates about these schemes.
This app is an initiative of the state government to make economically disadvantaged women aware of several development schemes.
Addressing an event in Navi Mumbai during his day-long visit to the state,
Prime Minister Modi said, “The guarantee of empowerment of the daughters and sisters given by Modi is being carried forward by the Maharashtra government.”
“Coming forward with women and leading the movement for Viksit Bharat is very critical. Removal of every obstacle in the path of our mother and daughters and ensuring ease of life for them is a priority for our government. Mahila Kalyan is the foremost guarantee of any double-engine government in any state,” he added.
The ‘Nari Shakti Doot’ application is the brainchild of minister of Women and Child Development Aditi Tatkare.
A few months ago, Tatkare had asked officials in her department to develop an application where women can access all information related to benefits from various government schemes on a single platform.
In a recent review meeting, the minister reportedly highlighted how women in Maharashtra face problems in accessing information about government schemes related to them.
Besides providing notifications and information from the department, the app also helps women gather information about schemes that have been designed for them by other departments of the state government. It will further facilitate online filing of forms, officials said.
The Android version of the ‘Nari Shakti Doot’ app is available on Google Play Store, while an iOS version is expected to be launched soon.
