Government's push for electrical vehicles bring home-grown players to the fore

As the government pushes for the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) in the country through its various policy incentives, home-grown players are rising to the challenge.

CNBC-TV18’s Alisha Sachdev visits the start-up Omega Seiki's factory in Haryana to bring us this report about how the company is looking to make 100 percent made-in-India vehicles, with help from existing small businesses.

Omega Seika's factory in Faridabad in Haryana makes automotive components, full-fledged EVs, and has clients such as Amazon and Diageo. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Vocal for Local campaign sprang-up, the company has redoubled its efforts to rise to the challenge.

For many years, EV makers have imported components from China, and these cost a pretty penny. But after policy intervention to foster local manufacturers, Omega Seiki is working to ensure that these components are 100 percent made in India.
