In a major update on the
Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a glimpse of the making of "Bharat’s first ballastless track" for the bullet trains on Thursday.
The J-slab ballastless track system is being deployed
for the bullet train project between Maharashtra'sMumbai and Ahmedabad in Gujarat.Sharing details about the highly-anticipated project, Vaishnaw said that the tracks will have 320 kmph speed threshold. A total length of 153 km of the viaduct has been completed, while the 295.5 km of pier work is also done, he added.

As per the video shared by the Union Minister, the ballastless track has an RC track bed, cement asphalt mortar, precast track slab and rail with fasteners.
Recently, it was reported that the
Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor will have 14 anemometers, which will be installed in coastal areas to measure wind speed to adjust train operations accordingly.
These anemometers will be installed at 14 points where winds are particularly strong and may affect the train operations on the viaduct, officials at the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) said.
Nine of 14 such locations are in Gujarat.
The anemometers will monitor wind speed while focusing on river bridges and areas prone to sudden and strong winds, reports said.
The technology is intended to give real-time monitoring at the operations control centre for 360-degree direction data and wind speed data ranging from 0 to 252 kmph.
According to officials, the speed of the bullet trains will have to be adjusted if the wind speeds are higher than 72 kmph.
The acquisition of the 1,389.49 hectares of land required for the corridor in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli was done in January.
