As several parts across the country are grappling with the severe cold wave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed about the very dense foggy situation in different regions on Friday, January 12. According to IMD's All India Weather Bulletin, in the coming two days, many parts of Central and East India will be witnessing a gradual fall by 2 to 3 degree Celsius in the minimum temperature range.
Additionally, cold to severe cold wave conditions are likely to continue in isolated pockets of Rajasthan while cold wave conditions have been predicted for Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi for January 12 and 13.
The national capital on Friday recorded its lowest temperature this winter with the minimum dipping to 3.9 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, the weather department said. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said it is the lowest minimum temperature in the last five years.
According to IMD, the visibility recorded in Delhi's Palam and Indira Gandhi International Airport on Friday morning stood at zero metres.
Meanwhile, ANI shared visuals from different parts of Delhi showcasing the foggy condition that has impacted the visibility in the national capital city.
On the other hand, Delhi has been continuing to struggle with the 'very poor' air quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, most of the parts across the city have recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) above 300.
As per the recorded data of CPCB at 10 am, areas like Anand Vihar stood at 382, Ashok Vihar at 338, Dwarka at 362, ITO at 305, Jahangirpuri at 392, Mandir Marg at 355, Mundka at 378, Najafgarh at 305, Patparganj at 374, Punjabi Bagh at 379, RK Puram at 367, Rohini at 372, Shadipur at 340, and Wazirpur at 374, falling under the 'very poor' category.
Due to the low visibility in the national capital city, the flight operations have been majorly impacted. Delhi Airport on Friday has issued an advisory for the passengers on the microblogging platform X. The advisory reads, "Low visibility procedures are in progress at Delhi Airport. All flight operations are presently normal. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information.
Apart from this, around 39 passenger trains bound to Delhi have also been significantly disrupted. Due to the dense fog conditions in the northern region, the trains have been running behind the scheduled timings, ANI reported.
