Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's
Dunki, which hit theatres on December 21, remained resilient at the box office and grossed over ₹400 crore worldwide.
On Day 12, the Rajkumar Hirani directorial raked in ₹9.05 crore at the domestic box office, taking its total collection in India to ₹196.77 crore, as per sacnilk.com.
Dunki had an overall occupancy of 30.80% on January 1. This was Shah Rukh's third film in 2023 after
Pathaan and
Jawan.
While Jawan minted ₹16.25 crore on its second Monday, Pathaan had raked in ₹8.55 crore. Both films had grossed over ₹1,000 crore worldwide.
On Monday, the film had an occupancy of 12.04% in the morning shows. However, as the day unfolded, the footfalls increased significantly and reached 34.14% during the afternoon showings and 46.26% during the evening shows. However, it came down slightly during the night screenings (30.74%).
The film, which also features Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and Boman Irani, raked in ₹11.5 crore in India on its second Sunday.
Dunki, co-written by Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijat Joshi, and Kanika Dhillon, revolves around the illegal immigration technique 'donkey flight'.
On working with Shah Rukh for the first time, Hirani told ANI that the actor liked the story from the beginning.
"Shah Rukh was very curious about this story... he is a brave man and a brave actor... he was very happy with the story, I wanted to work with SRK for a long time... he is a great man who showers love on everybody," Hirani said.
Released on December 22, the Prashanth Neel directorial has made over ₹625 crores at the global box office, according to the film's official handle on 'X'.
