The nominees in this category include "Jawan," "Pathaan," and "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani," along with other noteworthy films like "12th Fail," and "OMG 2."
The 69th Filmfare Awards, set to unfold in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on January 28, will be hosted in the city for the first time. The nominations were officially unveiled on Monday evening, revealing a star-studded lineup of the top-performing films from 2023, spanning various categories.
Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, bagged multiple nominations, while also contending for the Best Actor title for his roles in "Jawan" and "Dunki." The competition in this category is stiff, with Ranbir Kapoor ("Animal"), Ranveer Singh ("Rocky Aur Rani…"),
Sunny Deol ("Gadar 2"), and Vicky Kaushal ("Sam Bahadur") vying for the coveted accolade.
Kaushal is also nominated in the best actor (critics) category for the film as well as in the best supporting category for "Dunki".
The Best Director category showcases a diverse array of talent, including Atlee for "Jawan," Karan Johar for "Rocky Aur Rani…," Amit Rai for "OMG2," Sandeep Reddy Vanga for "Animal,"
Siddharth Anand for "Pathaan," and Vidhu Vinod Chopra for "12th Fail."
The race for Best Female Actor features performances by Alia Bhatt ("Rocky Aur Rani.."), Deepika Padukone ("Pathaan"), Rani Mukerji ("Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway"), Taapsee Pannu ("Dunki"), Bhumi Pednekar ("Thank You For Coming"), and Kiara Advani ("Satyaprem Ki Katha").
The Best Film (Critics) category includes movies like "
12th Fail," "Bheed," "Faraaz," "Three of Us," "Joram," "Sam Bahadur," and "Zwigato."
The competition intensifies in the Best Actor (Critics) category, featuring performances by Abhishek Bachchan ("Ghoomer"), Jaideep Ahlawat ("Three of Us"), Manoj Bajpayee ("Joram"), Pankaj Tripathi ("OMG2"), Rajkummar Rao ("Bheed"), and Vikrant Massey ("12th Fail").
Notably absent from the Best Supporting Actor (Male) category is veteran star Dharmendra, while "Animal" co-stars Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol, along with Emraan Hashmi ("Tiger 3"), Tota Roy Chowdhary ("Rocky Aur Rani…"), and Aditya Rawal ("Faraaz") aim for the coveted trophy.
In the Best Supporting Actor (Female) category, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi from "Rocky Aur Rani…," Ratna Pathak Shah ("Dhak Dhak"), Tripti Dimri ("Animal"), and Yami Gautam ("OMG 2") make their mark.
