Despite government promises, GST refunds face delay

Despite special drives by the government, GST refunds worth around Rs 13,000 crore is still believed to be pending. It is against this backdrop that exporters have written to the centre as well as the GST council, requesting them to expedite the process. Timsy Jaipuria give more details on it.

Exporters have claimed Rs 23,000 crore worth of refunds out of which only Rs 10,250 crore has been released till March 31.

Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) chief claims that refunds are stuck due to mismatch of invoice under the GST claim forms and the refund forms.
