Galaxy Surfactants on Tuesday said that the disruption in shipping due to shortage of containers was certainly putting pressure on the supply chain but the surge in freight rates was temporary.
“The disruption due to shipping and containers is continuing which is certainly putting pressure in terms of our supply chain, but as far as margin is concerned, there will be a gradual progression when new products keep on getting better as we move ahead,” said U Shekhar, Founder & MD of Galaxy Surfactants.
New products are contributing to the overall growth, said Shekhar.
“The trend of volume sales should continue as far as specialty segment is concerned. Consumer focus on personal hygiene has increased significantly this year, which we believe should sustain going forward and the new products which have been introduced are seeing slow evolution which is certainly giving us better numbers," said Shekhar in an interview with CNBC-TV18.
The company has implemented expansion projects at Jhagadia.
According to Shekhar, high growth in sanitisers has been tapering off. “We do not supply the main raw materials but we understand that the frenetic growth that the sanitisers saw is tampering,” said Shekhar.
