As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hard selling India story abroad, Sumant Sinha, chairman and managing director of ReNew Power on Friday said he brokered a meeting between Swadeshi Jagran Manch and US retailers Walmart and Amazon.
Swadeshi Jagran Manch is a political and cultural organisation affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
In an interview to CNBC-TV18's Shereen Bhan, Sinha said, "Some people from Swadeshi Jagran Manch had asked for reaching out and meeting some people here in the US, from an investment and trade and energy standpoint. I used my good offices of the US-India Strategic Forum to request them to get this meeting arranged, which happened yesterday (September 27)."
According to Sinha, "Swadeshi Jagran Manch is reaching out and trying to have a direct dialogue with some of these people as it is important for both sides to understand each other's issues, points of views and objectives. I think it is a dialogue that can hopefully make different points of view come together. I was quite surprised to learn that this was the first such meeting that has happened between these various sets of people. I think it is useful to people to talk to each other and be constructive about their differences."
