Mumbai police have filed a closure report in the rape case against Sajjan Jindal, the chairman and managing director of JSW Group. In its report submitted to the court, the Mumbai police mentioned that during the investigation, they found no evidence against the industrialist.
The police stated that the complainant did not provide any evidence to support her claims. The report also mentions that she did not cooperate with the police and did not even record her statement in front of a magistrate.
Jindal was accused of rape by a 30-year-old woman. The Mumbai police
filed an FIR against Jindal on 13th December 2023. The complainant claimed that she met Jindal in October 2021. In her statement, she claimed that she approached the Mumbai police to file an FIR against Jindal in February 2023, and when the police did not register it, she approached the court.
The Bombay High Court ordered the Mumbai police to file the FIR, following which the latter began the case in December 2023 and filed the closure report in March 2024.
The complainant was recently arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police in a cheating and blackmailing case.
In its closure report, the Mumbai police mentioned that there is no evidence to support the complainant's case. According to procedure, the court will now accept or reject the Mumbai police's submission. The court is yet to pronounce its order.
