Capri Global Capital is targeting asset under management (AUM) of more than ₹15,000 crore with 33% or ₹5,000 crore contribution from gold loan book for the financial year 2025.
Rajesh Sharma, Managing Director and CEO told CNBC-TV18, the gold loan book for current year was ₹3,000 crore or roughly 20% of overall book.
Sharma is confident of achieving the AUM milestone through strategic initiatives and partnerships, including plans to disburse ₹10,000 crore in car loans. Next year's car loan target will be about ₹12,000 crore, he said.
He he highlighted that a higher percentage of gold loan lending would contribute to improving the company's net interest margins (NIMs).
“Since gold loan lending is happening in the range of about 17% plus, that is where our NIMs will keep improving. More and more proportion of our lending book increases, our NIMs will increase,” he said.
Sharma believes, Reserve Bank of India (RBI’s) new guidelines on improvement in risk weight will have an impact on the company. The cost of incremental borrowing is going to increase by another 15-25 basis points (bps) depending on bank to bank, he said.
