Homegrown electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM), on Wednesday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) to establish public charging stations across India.

With this MoU, both companies aim to encourage more people to adopt electric vehicles in the country and improve the experience of EV owners. They are also considering the introduction of a co-branded RFID card for a hassle-free charging experience.

Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer at TPEM and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (PMPV), in a company statement, said, “As the adoption of EVs increases, the availability of widespread and dependable charging infrastructure will play a crucial role in making EVs mainstream in India. This strategic partnership with HPCL emphasises our dedication to advancing India’s EV ecosystem.”
