BMW Group India has reported its highest-ever annual sales across all three brands - BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad in 2023. The company sold a total of 14,172 units, marking an 18% growth.
The BMW luxury car segment saw a growth of 88% year-on-year. The motorcycle division, BMW Motorrad, also posted its highest-ever sales of 8,768 units, a 20% growth.
The company’s President, Vikram Pawah, announced that BMW is planning to launch 19 new vehicles in 2024. He acknowledged some logistical challenges due to the Red Sea uncertainty but assured that it will only have a minor impact on the company’s new launches.

Pawah, in the company's annual press conference, said, "2023 has been a record-breaking milestone year for BMW Group India. All three brands – BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad – have delivered their highest-ever sales.”

Sports utility vehicles (SUVs) contributed 54% to the annual sales volume, witnessing a 24% growth. The new X1 was the company's highest-selling SUV, contributing 20% to overall sales, while the X7 had the second-highest deliveries. The new BMW 3 Series was the highest-selling sedan, accounting for 20% of sales.
BMW Motorrad India sold 8,768 units, a 20% growth. The BMW G 310 models registered a 19% growth and maintained an 88% share in overall sales. The core bikes available as completely built-up units saw a 33% growth, primarily driven by the high-end GS adventure and RR sports segment.
BMW Group India has also maintained its leadership in the electric luxury car segment for the second consecutive year. The BMW iX secured its position as India’s top-selling luxury electric car, while the MINI 3 Door Cooper SE emerged as the highest-selling premium electric hatchback.
Pawah added, “We continue to set the pace in the Indian electric luxury vehicle market... A perfect example is the BMW iX which is the highest selling luxury electric vehicle in India. With proven strengths, future-oriented technologies and a robust premium charging network, we are confident of taking this to the next level.”
In the final quarter of 2023, all three brands of the company reached their highest-ever quarterly sales. BMW sold 4,306 units in this quarter, which is a 41% increase. At the same time, MINI and BMW Motorrad also grew by 54% and 3% respectively.
