FM Sitharaman arrived in Parliament for the Budget 2023 presentation wearing a traditional temple border saree.

Sitharaman opted for a crimson temple saree with black borders and intricate golden work.

The beautiful saree also featured a star like motiff.

Sitharaman’s love for Indian textiles is well known. Her attire for this Budget shows how passionately she supports handwoven textiles.

In 2019, she expressed her love for Indian textiles & said, “Silk or cotton, handloom sarees are one of my favourites – the colour, the weave, the texture, just so good.”

In 2022, Sitharaman donned a rust & maroon handloom Bomkai weave saree with silver thread work in the border.

For Budget 2021, Sitharaman wore a red & off-white silk Pochampally sari with an ikat patterns around the pallu, with a green border.

In 2020, Sitharaman opted for a bright yellow-gold silk saree with a blue border and a matching blouse. 

The yellow colour, signifies prosperity & abundance. Her understated style was in keeping with the ‘Aspirational India’ theme of the year.

In her debut Budget in 2019, Sitharaman wore a bright pink mangalgiri silk saree with a gold border.
